World War Z could not come at a better time. With the current zombie craze going around thanks to the TV Show “The Walking Dead” and the recent movie “Warm Bodies” this book adaptation follows many representations of the feared living corpses. Brad Pitt, who stars in the lead role, surprises audiences in his double role as a fighter but also as a loving father. After an outbreak of the zombie virus in the hometown of Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), a United Nations employee, it is his job to find the source of the disease in hopes of saving the world, and saving his family. Although some viewers have criticized Pitt’s performance as being a bit boring, the movie is capable of showing him in a different light than his roles in movies like Mr. & Mrs. Smith in which it is all about the action. For seekers of a good thrill, however, this is definitely the way to go. The movie is rated PG-13 so it is not as bloody as Walking Dead fans may hope, but it still kindles the fire of the fear of the undead. The movie is based on the book that goes by the same title written by Max Brooks. In his original version the objective is to document the story of the war with the use of several narrators, one for each chapter to be exact.
The tale is then told from different perspectives which happen at the same time. Hardcore fans of the book may not come out of the movie theatre with a smile on their face as Forster brings all narrations together into one big war. It is known that it is nothing like the book, as some viewers have complained, but it is still a source of a good action-packed evening. The only issue now is to see if it does the Walking Dead and its fans a justice.
