Liam Carroll Big Start to Big Career

Posted by iaam

Liam Carroll started acting when he was 10 years old and it has been uphill ever since. After his role on The Neighbors, Liam is currently a lead role on the upcoming TBS series The Detour, opposite Jason Jones. The show is a what-the-heck-is-wrong-with-this-family kind of show and will be drawing a lot of attention. The Detour is premiering in April! Along with acting Liam enjoys jumping on the trampoline with siblings as well as body surfing, skate boarding and playing soccer. He is also a huge hockey fan! Read on as Liam talks about upcoming show The Detour, bullying and more!

iaam: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Liam Carroll:
Funny, sarcastic and, usually hungry

iaam: What made you want to be an actor? When did you start acting?
Liam:
Honestly, I never really wanted to be an actor but it just kind of happened and I turned out to like it.  I started acting a few years ago.

iaam: You star as ‘Jared’ in the new show The Detour, what is something you love about the role? How do you connect with your character?
Liam:
Jared seems to be an alter ego of myself.  He is a fun kid that loves to goof around and try different things. Jared can also get away with a lot of stuff because most of the time his parents are actually more irresponsible than he is. It’s fun to play him and I can’t wait to do more episodes.

iaam: What was it like working with one of our favorite comic couple Jason Jones and Samantha Bee?  What are some of the funny moments you have had on set so far?
Liam:
I do enjoy hanging around Jason and Samantha. They seem like really cool parents. I remember when we were shooting an episode, Jason took Ashley and me on a golf cart around the race track, and then he let me drive!

iaam: The Detour follows a hilarious family while they go on a vacation road trip! If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go for vacation?
Liam:
I would love to go to Hawaii because I love to surf. I heard Costa Rico was pretty good for surfing too.

iaam: What would your dream role be? Are there any actors or actresses you would want to work with?
Liam:
My dream role is to be an action hero or in a comedy. I would love to work with Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart or Mellissa McCarthy. I love funny actors.

iaam: What do you like to do for fun? What is one thing people do not know about you?
Liam:
I love to jump on trampolines.  I am trying for a triple front.  I also like to surf, skateboard and play hockey.   I want people to know that I am just a regular kid who doesn’t like homework and loves to hang out with his friends.   One thing no one knows about me is I am on track to be a professional dodge ball player.  I am not kidding.

iaam: We heard that you are a huge hockey fan! Who is you favorite team? Who would your ultimate teammate be?
Liam:
My favorite teams are the LA King’s and MN Wild.  If you ask my mom, it’s the Chicago Blackhawks.  Let’s just say it’s a hard home to be a fan of any one team.  I would love to play with Patrick Kane but hang out with Dustin Brown.

iaam: We heard that your pet’s name is Stanley Cup! You sure are a big hockey fan! What is the most hilarious and memorable thing, Stanley Cup has done?
Liam:
Yes, we named Stanley after the Los Angeles Kings won the cup in 2012.  He is such a great dog. One time when Stanley was a puppy, we left him alone in our friend’s cabin while we went snowboarding.  I guess he got scared because he ripped up the blinds and tore the carpet looking for us.

iaam: What is your favorite movie?
Liam:
Currently my favorite movie is Talladega Nights. There are so many life lessons to be learned in that movie such as “if you ain’t first, you’re last” and “shake and bake.”  So true….

iaam: What is your favorite subject in school? How do you manage to balance acting along with school?
Liam:
Let’s just say it’s a struggle. I was lucky to film the first season in the summer but the pilot was filmed during school and that was not easy. It seemed like all I did was film and study. To be honest my favorite subject is PE.

iaam: What is one item you could not live without?
Liam:
Netflix, pretty simple.

iaam: What is your favorite food? Would you rather have something sweet or something spicy?
Liam:
My favorite food is Steak.  Medium rare with a baked potato, bacon and cheese.  However, sugar always wins over protein.

iaam: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Liam:
I like to keep it simple.  Mint chocolate chip.

iaam: Do you go to school or home school while working on the movie?
Liam:
I go to school and try to keep my life simple. For now, going to middle school is manageable and I prefer the routine.

iaam: If you could have any super power, what super power would you want? What would you use it for?
Liam:
I would like the power of time travel.

iaam: Here @iaam we do an anti-bullying campaign, have you ever been bullied? What would you want to tell other people in that kind of situation?
Liam:
I have not been physically bullied before but I have felt emotionally bullied, I guess.  My school does a pretty good job of being aware of this situation so I don’t see it too often. However, I have witnessed it before effecting people close to me. I am not even really sure what I can do to help sometimes but I make myself available to them. At least they know I am there to talk to, I think it’s important to be able to talk to someone.
